Mkg police bust suspected liquor adulteration racket

MOKOKCHUNG, MAY 11 (NPN): Mokokchung Police have seized 15,824 empty bottles of McDowell’s rum suspected to be intended for adulteration or illegal manufacturing of liquor, and apprehended four persons in connection with the case.
According to a press release, the seizure was made on May 8 at around 9 p.m. during a surprise checking at Sewak Gate area. Police intercepted a suspicious Tata vehicle bearing registration number (AS 25 DC 9621), allegedly impersonating an “On Army Duty” vehicle. Upon checking, police recovered 184 bags containing the empty bottles.
The apprehended persons were identified as Rongsentoshi Ao (29) and Limanungsang (26), both residents of Artang Ward, Mokokchung; Hassan Ali (25) and Ruhul Amin (27), both from Barjabari under Nalbari district, Assam.
Police stated that the bottles were suspected to have been brought for use in adulteration or illegal liquor manufacturing. A case has been registered under the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act and investigation is underway.
