Mkg police nab 1 on murder charge

Mokokchung police have arrested one person on charges of alleged murder of a woman, whose body was found on September 14, 2021.

According to Mokokchung police PRO, the accused has been identified as one Aowati (44) currently residing at Yimyu Ward, Mokokchung. PRO said that the accused admitted to committing the crime in the wee hours of September 13.

Considering the gravity of the offense, PRO said a special investigation team (SIT) was formed and probe taken up. A criminal case has been registered with Mokokchung Women Police Station, PRO said.

SP Mokokchung Aotula T. lmchen, has appreciated the team led by SDPO Mokokchung Chuba Chang and others for the arrest.

Village council clarifies: Molungkimong Village Council (MVC) while condemning the barbaric incident also sought to clarify on the issue of citizenship of the accused– Aowati.

In a press note, MVC chairman Y. Imsu Tzudir and secretary T. Chuba Tzudir claimed that the mother of the accused, who was mentally ill, had left Molungkimong in 1975 before Aowati was born. Besides not knowing the identity of the father, MVC said that Aowati had also not sought the citizenship of Molungkimong.

In this regard, MVC urged all concern to not tarnish the village name in connection with the accused.
