DIMAPUR: Mokokchung Police recovered a cache of arms and ammunition at Tzsusapang sector under Mokokchung village during a routine vehicle check on July 30, leading to the arrest of two individuals on separate occasions. According to Additional Superintendent of Police & PRO, Mokokchung, Y. Tumchobemo Yanthan, police personnel intercepted a suspected Honda Amaze (AS 07CB 6839) travelling from Shamator via Chari junction towards Dimapur.
Inspection of the vehicle led to the recovery of two AK rifles with three country made magazines, three .32 pistols with three country made magazines, and one live .32 round.
One occupant, identified as Khumkiumong Yimkhiung (42), son of Yimso, a permanent resident of Khumishe under Aghunato police station, Zunheboto district, and presently residing at Naga United, Chümoukedima, was arrested on the spot. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of co accused Kone Mary, wife of Danii Lah, a resident of Saranmai village, Senapati district, Manipur, from Kohima on August 3.
A criminal case has been registered at Police Station I, Mokokchung, and the investigation is underway.
