Mkg to represent Nagaland at 8th National Masters Games

MOKOKCHUNG, JAN 26 (NPN)

A 16-member veteran football squad from Mokokchung has departed for Pune to represent Nagaland at the 8th National Masters Games, scheduled from January 27 to 31. The prestigious multi-sport event is being organised by the Super Masters Games & Sports Federation of India under the aegis of the Super Masters Games & Sports Federation.
This year, Nagaland will field three men’s football teams across different age categories: a 40+ team from Dimapur, two 40+ teams from Mokokchung (Team A and Team B), and a 50+ team from Kohima. The Mokokchung contingent, drawn from the 35+ Mokokchung Football League, is led by team manager Tatongrenla and coach Mohan Ram Bhadu.
Ahead of their departure, the Mokokchung team held several practice sessions and played exhibition matches against the Morning Premier League, Kohima, as well as other veteran players from the 35+ Mokokchung Football League. The rigorous preparation was aimed at sharpening the squad’s fitness and coordination before competing at the national stage.
The team’s official jersey was unveiled on January 24, by Senior Superintendent of Police Mokokchung, Vesupra Kezo. The ceremony marked a symbolic send-off for the players, highlighting the district’s pride in its representation at the national level.
Beyond football, the 8th National Masters Games will feature competitions in multiple disciplines including hockey, athletics, kabaddi, yoga, powerlifting, swimming, weightlifting, arm wrestling, volleyball and badminton. The event provides a platform for veteran athletes across India to showcase their skills and continue their sporting journey.
The 16-member squad representing Mokokchung includes: N Jamonger Ao, N Chuba Phom, Lanuchuba Walling, Sentiyanger, Tsüpongtsüba, Tiayanger, Chumaksangba, Tiatoshi Imchen, Zululemba Ao, Repamangyang, Mliyapang Jamir, L Moakaba, Talilepba Jamir, Onen Toshi, Chubangangnen Imchen and Sakutemjen Ao.
