MLA surprised over civil society groups’ silence on Naga political issue

Expressing his surprised over civil society groups keeping silent on Naga political issue, NPF Legislator Chotisuh Sazo reminded them that the tenure of NDA government led by BJP was about to get over.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of Thevonü memorial trophy, he said Nagas wanted to have solution before election. He recalled that civil society groups had constituted a core committee and brought 11 political parties of Nagaland on board to sign on a declaration not to have Assembly election. But, he alleged that BJP had violated the declaration the next day by deciding to go ahead with the election with a slogan “election for solution,” he added.
“Today, they are silent and the tenure of the NDA government at the Centre is going to be over soon,” he said.
Sazo remarked that Naga civil society groups had been insisting on including all Naga nationalist groups in the ongoing Naga peace process and expediting the peace talks by including all sections. He lambasted Centre’s interlocutor RN Ravi for stating that Government of India would not talk with any other group and for warning them that they should “surrender or get killed”.
Referring to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, the MLA warned that it would adversely affect the North-eastern States as there were already many illegal migrants in these States.
“We need to oppose this. But till today, the PDA government has remained silent. When I raised a question in this regard in the Assembly, it was withdrawn without any reason,” he claimed.
