RONGARA, SEP 10 (NPN): Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Thursday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating development in rural and border areas, aiming to bring governance directly to the people.
Inaugurating the Block Integrated Development Complex of the Rongara Community and Rural Development (C&RD) Block in South Garo Hill district, Sangma said the new complex is aimed at strengthening administrative infrastructure and improving the delivery of government services to people in the rural area.
Sangma praised Siju Rongara MLA Rakkam A. Sangma for his efforts towards the development of his constituency and said the new building reflected the MLA’s commitment to the area.
“This new Block Building is a direct result of the MLA’s sincere efforts and vision for the better development of the area,” the Chief Minister said.
He also called upon officials and staff of the C&RD Block to remain committed to public service and respond to the concerns of people visiting the office.
“In rural areas, people visit Block Office with hope that their grievances will be resolved. The staffs should always give a patient hearing and understand their concerns and resolve it,” Sangma said. He said the state government had undertaken major infrastructure upgrades over the past three years.
The Chief Minister saidall 56 C&RD Blocks in Meghalaya have either been renovated or provided with new buildings to create better working conditions for officials and improve services for the public.
