SHILLONG JUN 10: The Meghalaya High Court on Wednesday reserved its judgment regarding the criminal petition filed by the state government challenging the bail granted to Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused in the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, in Sohra last year.
“S. Chanda, learned counsel for the respondent has submitted that the written argument will be filed in the course of the day.
Accordingly, as and when the written argument is filed, matter is reserved for judgment,” a single bench of Justice Wanlura Diengdoh stated in his order.
“Later, written argument filed. Judgment reserved,” the judge pronounced.
The state government had moved the High Court after the Court of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Judicial), Shillong, Dashalene R. Kharbteng, on April 27, 2026, had granted conditional bail to Sonam, citing procedural lapses during her arrest.
The court had noted that she was not informed of the correct section of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita under which she was held.
