MMC announces annual dog registration, vaccination drive

DIMAPUR: Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) has issued an circular announcing annual Dog Registration cum Vaccination Drive for 2026–2027.
ADC & Chief Executive Officer, MMC, Atsungba Walling informed that the drive will be conducted within the municipality on September 2 and 3, 2026, in collaboration with the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services and the Animal Welfare Union Mokokchung (AWUM).
The MMC has released mandatory guidelines and a detailed schedule for all wards to ensure smooth operation. The registration renewal and vaccination exercise will begin at 8 am, with each ward required to arrange facilities for the vaccination teams. Two volunteers from each ward must assist the veterinary team, while the respective ward chairman will be authorised to sign registration cards for renewal. Wards that submitted dog tags after registration last year must collect them, while those that did not submit may continue using existing tags. Wards requiring replacement tags for lost ones must submit a detailed list to the MMC office by August 27, 2026. Registration cards must also be collected from the MMC office during working hours on the same date.
Fees for new registration, renewals, vaccinations and utilisation charges will remain unchanged. The two day drive will cover wards as follows: September 2: Salangtem, Alempang, Alongmen, Sangtemla, Tongdentsuyong, Arkong, Penli, Dilong and Sungkomen and September 3: Yimyu, Lijaba Lijen, Mongsenbai, Kumlong, Kichutip, Aongza, Marepkong, Majakong and Artang.
