MMK organize seminar on eco-tourism

Mezomia Mechü Kehou (MMK) organised a seminar on eco-tourism and environment for women, youth and students simultaneously at the village council hall and GHS auditorium hall on October 7. Resource persons for the seminar included, proprietor, Naga Spices and Herbal Research Institute Kohima, Abea Mero and founder, Hope Centre for Excellence Dimapur, Zubeno Mozhui.


In her presentation, Abea Mero said Nagaland was wealthy in the resources and pointed out that eco-tourism was making livelihood in many neighbouring State like Sikkim and the Himalayan range.
She lamented that Nagas were still dependent on political methods which creates political diversity and affects the society’s all round development.


Mero encouraged the women to focus on farming healthy organic vegetable saying she was honored to be awarded at Bangalore representing Nagaland in an organic vegetable competition with veggies she collected from Mezoma itself.


Mero also shared her ideas in building indigenous products market, museums, building resorts built with hay, our unique culture of cultivating vegetables and fruits which can generate large economy like pop rice, Naga apple juice etc.


Zubeno Mozhui spoke on hospitality, rural homestays, rural way of living, return of investment, ideation, marketing etc. Mozhui said story boarding and mind mapping could be used to bring out a solution by taking into consideration or imagining the negative impact.


She said value of things change with concept and places as well as creating websites and portals and use of picture etc could be used to aid marketing. Pointing out that tourists look for authenticity, hygiene, clean and pleasant environment., she said hospitality and rural homestays provide ample scope with huge revenue for development and upgradation of Naga culture which can also serve as a source of income generating tool.
