Advisor for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Labour & Excise, Moatoshi Longkumer, the inaugural programme of “Manthan – North Eastern Skills & Entrepreneurship Conclave 2023”, organised at the Mahapurush Sankardev, Auditorium, Guwahati Assam on September 1, 2023. The three-day conclave is a follow-up to the special skill initiatives for the North East States under the banner “Transforming Lives, Building Futures-Skilled Development and Entrepreneurship in Northeast”.
The conclave was inaugurated by the Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar along with MoS Education and External Affairs Rajkumar Ranjan Singh.
In his speech, Longkumer shed light on the challenges faced by Nagaland, where the dependence on government jobs had reached saturation. He said that the absence of substantial industrial activities and limited private sector presence had led to a scarcity of employment opportunities for the youth. Advisor maintained that entrepreneurship was a pivotal solution to tackle and alleviate the pressing issue of unemployment in the state.
He also highlighted Nagaland’s geographical constraints due to its hilly terrain and remote village locations coupled with challenging accessibility and connectivity.
In this regard, advisor suggested harnessing drone technologies to overcome those obstacles effectively. He requested the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to establish a School of Drone Technology in the state.
In a press release, press secretary to advisor said the ministry pledged its unwavering support for the establishment of the institution in Nagaland as part of the skill ministry’s programme.
Advisor also expressed delight at the active participation of several entrepreneurs from Nagaland, who showcased their innovative products in an exhibition organized under the patronage of IIE, Guwahati.
Jasmina Zeliang from Nagaland was also honoured with award of excellence in entrepreneurship by the Ministry during the event. Advisor extended appreciation for the remarkable achievement.
