DIMAPUR: Advisor for Labour, Employment & Skill Development and Excise, Moatoshi Longkumer, has strongly condemned the alleged sexual abuse of a minor girl in Dimapur and called for a thorough and impartial investigation into the case.
In a statement, Longkumer said the allegations, if proven true, represent a grave violation of humanity and stressed that there can be no justification for crimes against children. He asserted that those found guilty should face the full force of the law and the strongest condemnation from society.
Expressing concern over the long-term trauma suffered by victims of child abuse, the advisor said no individual should be shielded from accountability because of influence, status, wealth or connections. He described the case as a wake-up call and urged society to break the culture of silence surrounding child abuse. Longkumer also commended the Dimapur Eastern Naga Students’ Union (DENSU) for raising the issue and demanding accountability.
Calling for an investigation free from interference, he said justice must not only be done but must also be seen to be done. He further stressed the need to protect children and support survivors while ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable.
Conveying his thoughts and prayers to the victim, Longkumer expressed hope that justice would prevail and that those responsible would face appropriate legal action.
