Moatoshi Longkumer hands over vehicle to District Child Protection Unit

Staff Reporter

Advisor for Labour & Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, and Excise, Moatoshi Longkumer, who is also the chairman of District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Dimapur, on Wednesday handed over a newly purchased vehicle to the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Dimapur for Child Helpline 1098 emergency service. The handing-over ceremony was held at the new Dimapur DC Office Complex.
Speaking at the programme, Moatoshi described the initiative as a privilege and honour, stating that extending support to the DCPU was the need of the hour. He expressed gratitude to fellow Dimapur legislators—advisor for Tribal Affairs and Elections, H. Tovihoto Ayemi, and advisor for Industries and Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu—for their support in facilitating the purchase of the vehicle. He informed that the vehicle was procured through contributions from the LADP Common Pool fund 2025–26 of the three Dimapur Assembly Constituencies.
Moatoshi further expressed hope that the vehicle would be meaningfully utilised and contribute towards addressing challenges faced in child protection services.
Advisor Hekani Jakhalu, in her remarks, noted that while numerous issues were deliberated during DPDB meetings, the significance of child welfare led to a collective decision under Moatoshi’s leadership to prioritise the purchase of the vehicle. Stressing the importance of child protection, she said every child deserves care, love, and security, mentioning that the initiative reflects a shared commitment towards safeguarding children’s well-being.
DCPU Officer, Avika Zhimomi, expressed appreciation to Moatoshi for his prompt response in facilitating the vehicle, stating that it would greatly enhance the functioning of the unit.
Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, who chaired the programme, also conveyed gratitude to all three legislators for their support and cooperation.
