MOCK observes virtual graduation day

Mount Olive College, Kohima (MOCK) observed a virtual graduation day for the class of 2021 on July 20 with assistant professor, department of English Kohima College Kohima, Dr. Theyiesinuo Keditsu as guest speaker.

In a press release, convenor, media & publicity cell, Neilakuonuo Theünuo informed that feminist writer and poet, Dr. Theyiesinuo Keditsu congratulated the students who had favorably graduated and wished them the best in their endeavours.

Dr. Keditsu shared about the intimacy and interaction of online class and encouraged the students by saying that now was the safest time for students to pursue what they loved doing.

She encouraged the students not to focus on one thing alone as they were still young and that the valuable skills in the market today were “language, knowledge and writing”.

The guest speaker advised the students to “nourish their soul, body and mind” and mentioned that the best advice was to dream rather than to be realistic.

She elaborated on the current hierarchy of jobs and said that all jobs were equal and the same. Dr. Keditsu also encouraged the students to seek out their mentors, to seek for encouragement and advices from teachers and to stay in touch with them.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by Neivepolü Tetseo, assistant professor, department of education, Mount Olive College Kohima, acting principal of the college, Swedezhono Tsükrü welcomed the guest speaker and students while blessings for graduates was said by college chaplain, Newtoli Zhimo

On behalf of the 2021 graduated batch, Lungcetyile Ramlia, student of department of history, who was awarded “graduate of the year 2021’, shared her experience as a student of the college.

Students of BA 4th semester also Khevibo Kinimi, Preeti Rai, general secretary students’ council and Christina Yanthan, partook in invocation, farewell speech and notes of gratitude. Altogether, 151 students from both arts and commerce streams graduated.

Earlier, skill development cell of the college conducted an “online skill potpourri contest’ on July 15 under the theme “skills for good life and good living” which saw participation from students of higher secondary, BA 2nd and 4th semesters.

The original works were selected by a panel of judges and cash prizes along with e-certificates were awarded to the winners.

Meanwhile, celebrating 75 Years of India’s Independence, MOCK held a special online lecture on “Mahatma Gandhi’s principles and what Mahatma Gandhi would want the citizens of India today to make a better India” for the higher secondary students on July 19. Resource person of the programme was assistant professor, Kuvethilu Thuluo.
