Moderate tremor jolts Nagaland, NE states

A ‘moderate’ quake, measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale, jolted Nagaland during the early hours of Tuesday, around 2.30 a.m. According to USGS report, the epicentre was 111 km South East of Phek, in Myanmar. State disaster management officials said that no loss of life or property has been reported till the filing of this report. 

Meanwhile, another earthquake measuring 3.7 magnitude on the Richter scale was reported in Manipur on Monday. India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the quake was felt at 9.27 p.m. in border Ukhrul district and was at a depth of 50 km. The tremor, which lasted for several seconds, forced panic-stricken people to run out of their homes in the night.
