Modern College, Piphema, held the fourth edition of Autumn Fiesta 2026 on October 10 under the theme “Vintage Retro”, featuring music, sports, e-sports and other activities.
The event provided a platform for students to showcase their talents and encouraged creativity, participation and camaraderie among students and visitors.
According to a press release Commandant of 78 Battalion, CRPF, Deven Bhosle, graced the occasion as special guest. In his address, he spoke on transformation and the changing world, emphasising that character remained the foundation of a meaningful life.
He said “vintage” was not limited to fashion but also referred to old cultures, habits and values that should be remembered and upheld.
Reminding students of the importance of the present, he said, “The future depends on what you do today.” He also wished the college success in its future endeavours.
The inaugural programme began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m., followed by the formal programme at 10 a.m. Principal of Modern College, Dr Vitsou Yano, delivered the welcome address, while the invocation was led by Lhingmoichong Singson. A special musical presentation by Keneinguzo Keyho and Seketuno Dahou also marked the occasion.
One of the major attractions, Modern Rhapsody, saw 18 contestants from various institutions competing in the singing competition.
The event was judged by classical singer and session drummer Aduozo Keretsü, singer-songwriter and NCMFA vocal instructor Kedovituo Peseyie, and singer-songwriter and vocal instructor Vetholu Rhakho. Y Libeni of Modern College secured the first position, followed by Hito H Yeptho of Mt. Olive College in second place and Keneilhoulie of Norman Putsure College in third.
The fiesta also featured men’s and women’s arm-wrestling and dumbbell-hold competitions, organised by Power Gym and LFG in collaboration with the Modern College Alumni Association.
A total of 54 participants competed in the events, testing their strength and endurance.
In the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang e-sports tournament hosted by the college’s E-Sports Club, 51 teams participated.
Team TWM emerged as winners, while Team OSC secured the runners-up position and Team EZZ WIN finished third. TWM ICE was adjudged the most valuable player (MVP).
The College Fete featured stalls offering food, refreshments and other items, while the Vintage Retro theme added to the celebrations. Prizes were also awarded for the best costume and best stall setup. The day concluded with a DJ evening.
