Modern College, Piphema, held its 6th Graduation Day at the college’s Indoor Stadium on Tuesday, where 51 students graduated from various departments. Faculty, students, parents and guests attended the celebration to honour the outgoing batch.
Regional director of IGNOU RC-20 Kohima, Dr. Premila Swamy D, graced the occasion as special guest. In her speech, she congratulated the graduates and urged them to develop a clear vision for their future. She encouraged students to embrace challenges, take bold steps, and not limit themselves to government jobs but explore other career opportunities. She also highlighted the importance of lifelong learning and self-growth.
The programme was compered by 5th semester students Visino Chüsi and Moalong Imchen. Invocation was led by MCEU president Akash Chettri and principal Dr. Vitsou Yano delivered the welcome address.
A blessing prayer was pronounced by Assistant Professor of Sociology, Mhasivonuo Kapfo. Students from the graduating batch shared their experiences and academic journeys. Among them were university Rank 1 toppers Ashila, Vihosül Ltu, Rothrongru Sangtam, Ricky Das and Chumthungo Patton. Rachel Thiumai of BA 5th semester gave a farewell speech on behalf of junior students. Special presentations and a performance by 1st and 5th semester students, including Ketouseno Vielie, added to the occasion.
An academic presentation was given by Academic Officer Keleseno Longkumer, along with various departments, showcasing the achievements of the batch. The event concluded with the College Anthem and a mass prayer, followed by refreshments. College authorities stated that this year’s batch included four university Rank 1 toppers from Economics, Education, English and Political Science, and two more rank holders from Education.
