DIMAPUR, AUG 11 (NPN): The Mokokchung District Taekwondo Association (MDTA) held a felicitation programme to honour participants who represented the district at the recently concluded 36th Kyorugi & 1st Poomsae Nagaland State Taekwondo Championship 2026-cum-Under-14 Catch Them Young Tournament in Kohima.
Altogether, 14 athletes from Mokokchung secured medals across different categories, winning one gold, five silver and eight bronze medals. In the Kyorugi discipline, Odimeren clinched the gold medal, while Temsujung, Ligo Pinggam, Imtisungit and Amir Das each won silver. Bronze medals were bagged by Sangtsu, Mongshai, Limatoshi, Thangjemhaubou, Vincent Yanthan, Merentemjen, Tirjung and Aarush Y Patil. In the Poomsae discipline, Sangtsu added another silver to the district’s tally.
The felicitation programme was held at the residence of the MDTA treasurer, where Association president Supongwati Jamir formally handed over certificates, medals and cash incentives to the successful participants. MDTA executive member Chubameren, in his short address, praised the Mokokchung Taekwondo team for bringing laurels to the district and encouraged the young athletes to aim for greater achievements in the future. He assured that the Association would continue to support and promote the players in every possible way.
The event was chaired by MDTA general secretary Nukshi I. Ozukum. The Mokokchung Taekwondo team was led by team managers T. Alila Imchen and Chubatoshi Aier, with Poshung serving as the head coach.
