Mokokchung DPDB greenlights key schemes, societies

The Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) convened its monthly meeting on July 24 at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Mokokchung. The meeting was chaired by chairman of the DPDB, Nuklutoshi Longkumer, MLA.
According to a DIPR report, during the session, the board reviewed minutes from the previous meeting, with focused deliberations on plastic waste management. Members from the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) presented updates on various initiatives undertaken to address environmental concerns in the district.
The DPDB gave approval to the Local Area Development Programme (LADP) schemes for 2025–2026, commending the Iconic Project programme and the allocation of funds to sports development under LADP. In a key infrastructure decision, the board recommended acquiring a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the 2nd NAP Alichen for the proposed construction of a helipad in Tuli Town.
The board also approved registration of three societies: AKM Nation Builder’s Society, Mokokchung; Sports Society Soyim, Ungma; and Akhoya Village Bamboo Growers Society, highlighting community-led development efforts.
The meeting concluded with a discussion led by the chairman on the progress of National Highway 702D (Mokokchung–Maraini Road).
