Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam (KMH)—the apex women organisation of the Khiamniungan community—has lamented over the delay in delivering justice to the two minor victims of molestation, which allegedly took place in Noklak district.
KMH stated that different inquiry teams had conducted series of investigation and interrogation, but there had been no result so far. It said that FIR was lodged on July 27, 2021 and later a memorandum was submitted to the governor demanding fair investigation and justice at the earliest.
KMH said that the case was initially taken up by Noklak police and later handed over to the special investigation team (SIT) from PHQ Kohima. It said the SIT investigated and interrogated several other individuals apart from the two victims. However, KMH said there was no progress, adding that the case has been at stake.
KMH has, therefore, urged the law enforcing authority to expedite the case and deliver justice without further delay. It said that the accused, who was a high profile, should not hinder justice in any form. The organisation claimed that there were also “high possibilities of stigmatising the victims”, which could eventually result in “shattered future of the two young girls.”
