Strongly condemning the alleged molestation of a young woman in a moving autorickshaw on June 15, 2025, the Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) has made a clarion call to the state government and the law enforcement agencies for swift and thorough investigation and ensure strict punishment to the perpetrator(s).
In a press release, NSCW chairperson W. Nginyeih Konyak also appealed the responsible authorities to take immediate measures to strengthen the safety and security of the women and girls in the state.
Further, the commission reminded the state law enforcement agencies that safety and security of women and girls must be prioritized without any lapses and such crimes must not go unpunished.
The commission described June 15 incident was “an appalling act”, which it said highlighted the persistent threats to women’s safety and security.
“It is unacceptable that women and girls in the State continue to face such dangers even in a broad daylight,” commission said.
Further, the Nagaland State Commission for Women said that the incident was not just a criminal act but a grave violation of Human Rights, dignity and women’s safety. The commission warned that such heinous crimes would not be tolerated. NSCW maintained that such acts were a clear sign that Nagaland was no more a safe zone women and children.
