Mon DPDB discusses road projects, school proposals and storage infra

The monthly meeting of the Mon District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) for April 2026 was held at the DC’s Conference Hall on Thursday, presided over by Deputy Commissioner Mon and vice chairman DPDB, Wennyei Konyak.
According to a DIPR report, Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Village Guards, C.L. John, proposed construction of a Public Distribution Centre Store at Chen Town to strengthen storage infrastructure for essential commodities. The house approved the proposal and forwarded it to higher authorities.
DPDB chairman Y. Mankhao Konyak, MLA proposed several new roads to be included under urban road development, including construction of District Jail circular road, District Jail Road to Tenak Nalla, GPS Santham to Judicial Complex Road, GHSS ‘C’ junction to ADC circular road, and other key link roads across Mon town and adjoining areas.
The board also deliberated on the proposal for creation of a Government Primary School at Longwa Lailo Village, put forward by Advisor Treasuries & Accounts, Art and Culture, K. Konngam Konyak. In addition, the application for re-approval of an elementary school at Chingai Ward, Mon town, was assigned to DEO Mon for verification and report in the next meeting.
After reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting, the house discussed the agenda for a 10-feet extension of the Foothill Road. ADC Aboi, M.S. Thangpong presented an overview, and the proposal was approved and forwarded to higher authorities.
The board also approved the registration of Anghlam Sports and Cultural Club under the Nagaland Societies Registration Act, 1860.
Deputy Commissioner requested the Agriculture, Horticulture and Veterinary departments to prepare PowerPoint presentations on their activities for the upcoming DPDB meeting. ADC Mon, Pakon Phom, reminded members about the table-top exercise scheduled for April 29, urging active participation.
Earlier, the meeting began with a welcome address, followed by introductions of new members DEO Mon, Rose Ngullie and ADC Tizit, C. Phuniang.
The meeting concluded with approval of key proposals aimed at improving infrastructure, education and public service delivery in Mon district.
