Mon town organises 3rd inter-ward football tournament

DIMAPUR, JUL 7 (NPN)

The 3rd inter-ward football tournament, organized by the Mon Town Students’ Union in collaboration with the District Administration Mon, kicked off under the theme “Stronger Together, Drugs Free Forever”. The event was graced by advisor for Treasuries & Accounts, Art & Culture, Government of Nagaland, K Kongam Konyak, MLA.
In his keynote address, Kongam Konyak highlighted Mon Town as the cultural symbol of the Konyak community and called on its residents to embody humility, hospitality and grace in receiving guests and visitors. Commending the enthusiastic participation from all 11 wards, he encouraged youth to remain focused on their aspirations, nurture talents, and avoid drug and alcohol use particularly those pursuing success in sports and related fields.
Stressing discipline as a cornerstone of achievement, he urged young athletes to practice perseverance and patience, cautioning against overconfidence. “A tournament is not just a competition—it’s a mirror of consistent preparation,” he remarked.
He further emphasized the importance of balancing academic excellence with career development amid growing unemployment in the state. He encouraged exploration into diverse fields such as human resource development, entrepreneurship, sports, arts and crafts, and competitive examinations to uplift individual livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to the region’s economy.
Konyak also lauded the organizing committee for its dedication in fostering local talent and urged continued efforts to promote youth empowerment through sport.
