Mongchen-Milak link road, stretching a little more than 10 Kms from Mongchen village towards Milak River under Mokokchung district was inaugurated on November 24, with parliamentary secretary for Agriculture, Y. M. Yollow as chief guest.
According to DIPR report, Y.M. Yolow formally inaugurated the link road in the presence of guest of honour, Dr. Longrineken, parliamentary secretary for IT&C and DAN, host of government officials, NPF party workers, elders and council members from neighboring villages.
Addressing the gathering at Mongchen community hall,Yolow maintained that the inauguration of the link road was just the beginning of bigger and better things for the villagers.
He therefore asked them continue to work hard in unity and utilize the road to tap the rich potentials of the village in terms of agriculture & allied farming and eco tourism. He also gave his assurance to mark Mongchen village in some departmental work plan.
Parliamentary secretary, Dr. Longrineken said inauguration of the link road was a step toward fulfillment of a dream to make Jangpetkong range an economic and tourist hot spot. Continuing on this note he said, inter linking such roads would make the whole area into a big farming zone thereby uplifting the economy of villagers.
Earlier in the programme, short speeches were delivered by additional director, Agriculture, Imtitemjen and vice president, NPF Division Mokokchung, L. Yanger. Construction committee convener while presenting a short profile of the project also said it would not have been possible without the support and contribution from the local parliamentary secretary, Dr. Longineken. It was constructed through community free will donations and contributions.
