The 5th Football cum Penalty Shootout, sponsored and organized by the 27 Mokokchung Town A/C NDPP Youth Organization, concluded on Tuesday at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, with Mongsenbai Ward securing the championship title for the fifth consecutive year. The defending champions edged past Aongza Ward in a closely contested final match, winning 3–2.
The closing ceremony was graced by general secretary of NDPP 27 Mokokchung Town A/C, Sashitsungba Imchen, who attended as the guest of honour. In his address, Imchen extended gratitude to R&D Minister Metsubo Jamir and Managing Director of Nagaland Mineral & Mines, Temjemmoa, for their continued support in providing a platform for youth to showcase their talents in sports. He emphasized the importance of physical engagement as a healthy alternative to digital distractions, noting that even parents are not exempt from the digital shift.
Mongsenbai Ward received a cash prize of Rs. 30,000 along with certificates, while runner-up Aongza Ward was awarded Rs. 20,000 and certificates.
In the penalty shootout segment, the results were as follows:
Men’s Category: Champion – PS & PRO Team – Rs. 12,000 + certificates
Runner-Up: Salangtem Ward – Rs. 6,000 + certificates
Women’s Category: Champion – Kumlong Ward – Rs. 12,000 + certificates
Runner-Up: Salangtem Ward – Rs. 6,000 + certificates
The event commenced with an invocation by Imliwapang, and the vote of thanks was delivered by secretary of the 27 Mokokchung Town A/C NDPP Youth Organization, Tongpangkumba.
