DIMAPUR: The District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meetings for the districts of Peren, Tseminyu and Longleng were held on August 6, where officials and members deliberated on key developmental agendas, disaster preparedness and preparations for the forthcoming Independence Day celebrations.
Peren DPDB meeting
The Peren DPDB meeting was held at the DC’s Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and vice-chairman DPDB Peren, Hiazu Meru.
According to a DIPR report, for Independence Day preparations, a mass social work was scheduled for August 7 at the DC Office Complex, with the DC urging all departments to ensure staff participation. Dobashis were deputed to verify ongoing construction of government office buildings, with heads of offices advised to supervise works regularly. The closure order of Government Primary School, Libemphai, was discussed. Despite the order, the school continues under community teachers with 26 students enrolled. The board resolved to request a review and posting of government teachers.
The DC highlighted erratic climatic conditions and urged vigilance in reporting disaster-related incidents. The board discussed the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) and approved LADP/ICONIC Schemes for 6 Tening and 7 Peren Assembly Constituencies. Registration of the Affected Land Owner Association of NH-129A, Package-1A, was also approved.
Chief Technical Officer, KVK Jalukie, L. Babita Devi, presented activities of Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Departments of Economics & Statistics and Education were entrusted to present in the next meeting.
Tseminyu DPDB meeting
The Tseminyu DPDB meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Japheth Woch, at the DC’s Conference Hall. For Independence Day, responsibilities for the celebration were assigned to departments and stakeholders.
Assistant Urban Development Officer, L. Rokovono, sensitised members on solid waste management. The DC stressed collective responsibility and timely preparation of local action plans involving departments, NGOs and civil bodies.
The Department of Horticulture presented detailed activities undertaken in the district. The meeting ended with a vote of appreciation from the chair.
Longleng DPDB meeting
The Longleng DPDB meeting was held at the DPDB Hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner & vice-chairman, W. Manpai Phom. The DC highlighted damages caused by incessant rains, cutting off road connectivity, telecom lines and affecting villages, farmlands, forests and houses. Agri and Allied departments were tasked to assess damages.
ADC Longleng briefed on new award criteria involving CSOs, NGOs and institutions besides government employees.
District Commandant, Home Guard, Chibeni Ezung, proposed establishment of Civil Defence in the district. Executive Engineer Transmission Mokokchung, Er. Hokaito Assumi, updated on the 132/133 KV substation at Pongo village, seeking cooperation from landowners.
Eastern Naga Women Organisation submitted a proposal for drainage infrastructure development. The DC urged comprehensive field assessments. Assistant Programmer Coordinator DRDA, Y. Tongpang Phom, presented programmes and activities.
A mass social work was scheduled for August 8. The Education Department was entrusted to present activities in the next meeting. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by the chair.
