More election-related violence reported

With barely two days left to go to polls, sporadic incidents of election-related violence were reported in several assembly constituencies.
According to reports, unidentified armed men resorted to blank firing outside the house of Hazadisa village council chairman on Saturday under Dimapur-3 constituency. Sources said that around three persons came in a vehicle and fired shots in the air firing before leaving the area. However, no one was injured in the incident. No further details were known till the time of filing the report.
In Wokha, three persons were reportedly injured during a clash between supporters of rival candidates of 38-Wokha assembly constituency at Saron colony in Wokha around 11.30 p.m. on February 24.
It was reported that some supporters had resorted to firing during the scuffle, leaving three persons injured. The injured were rushed to Wokha Civil hospital.
It was also reported that several houses and properties at the locality were damaged during the incident. As per reports, a case was registered and investigation going on while police detained two suspects for questioning.
Further, a scuffle broke at a village under 12-Tseminyu constituency on Saturday when some men and womenfolk were reportedly carrying out a rally for clean election. During the scuffle shots were reportedly fired in the air by a security personnel of a candidate to disperse the crowd. No further details were known till the time of filing the report.
21 Tuli NCP files complaint: Election agent of Amenda Yaden, NCP candidate from 21 Tuli assembly constituency, Limatemjen has lodged a complaint with the chief electoral officer Nagaland claiming that a team of “heavily armed” NSNC (I-M) functionaries had allegedly gone to Anaki village during the wee hours of February 24 and harassed the village council chairman and other citizens “intimidating them to coerce the entire electors of the village” in support of the rival candidate.
Futher, the party also claimed that the authorities of a particular village had issued diktat to all its citizens to support the rival candidate, which was in gross violation of election guidelines.
Therefore, NCP has sought immediate intervention of the CEO to ensure free and fair polling in the best interest of the festival of democracy.
