Condolence messages from more organizations and personalities continue to come in for former minister and four-time MLA, K Yamakam, father of advisor, SCERT, IPR and Village Guards, Toshi Wungtung, who passed away at a private hospital in Dimapur on Friday.
ENPO: Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organization (ENPO), in a condolence note by president, Kekongchim and general secretary, Manglang Phom, stated that late Yamakam had a deep love and concern for the people of Eastern Nagaland, and all people who knew him greatly respected him. ENPO also recalled its late leader as their “history book” who had contributed and sacrificed much during turbulent times and brought peace to their region in particular and the state in general. With his death the people of Eastern Nagaland has lost an outstanding personality and a prominent leader, stated ENPO. It further added that it would always cherish the memory of his sincere dedication for his people. The organization also conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed leader to rest in eternal peace.
Noke Wangnao: Noke Wangnao, advisor of Social Welfare, Home Guard and Civil Defence in a condolence message stated that late Yamakam was one of the tallest leaders of the Yimchunger tribe, who served the Nagas as a dedicated social worker and later as an elected member of the NLA. Noke described late Yamakam as a visionary man of wisdom and stated that his unfinished mission would be carried forward by his son, Toshi Wungtung. Noke also extended deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
NNC/GDRN: All ranks and file of the Naga National Council/Government of the Democratic Republic of Nagaland (NNC/GDRN), in a condolence message by general secretary, Shehoto I Yesca, stated that in the demise of Yamakam, the Nagas in general and Tuensang in particular had lost one of its tallest leaders, leaving a vacuum which would be difficult to fill. NNC/GDRN conveyed prayers for Almighty God to grant fortitude to the bereaved family and also prayers for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
YUD: Yimchungrü Union Dimapur (YUD) in a condolence message by president, Albinus Atsumong, said late Yamakam was a man of principle, integrity and commitment who always stood by and worked for the common people. YUD stated that his demise had left a huge social and political vacuum for the Yimchungru community in particular and Nagas in general, which would be difficult to fill. YUD further stated that Yamakam’s contributions towards society will always be cherished and remembered, and expressed its deepest sympathy for the bereaved family.
T. Torechu: T Torechu, MLA stated that late Yamakam was a charismatic and down to earth statesman, and his absolute resolve and commitment to the people he represented was unprecedented. Torechu added that his immense political and social contribution for the state and the Yimchungru community would always be cherished.
Torechu added that in Yamakam’s demise, Yimchungrus and Nagas have lost a great leader and a fatherly figure. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
PACSU: Pungro Area College Students ‘Union (PACSU), in a condolence message, stated that in the demise of Yamakam, the Yimchungers had lost an able leader and fatherly figure. It stated that his illustrious deeds during his life time will ever be remembered. PACSU also conveyed its condolences and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
