Department of Social Welfare Peren district celebrated the 25th International Day of Older Persons at Jalukie on October 1 under the theme “sustainability and age inclusiveness in the urban environment” which was delivered by CDPO Peren Akali Sema, CDPO in her welcome address.
The programme was chaired by CDPO Jalukie Tekatemjen, invocation prayer by Hulimbo of Jalukie town, while special number was presented by Lewanliu and friend. Exhortation was given by chairman Jalukie town council Gaubeu Rangkau. A speech on “healthy aging” was given by consultant surgery, CHC, Jalukie Dr. Botoho Kibami. Presentation of award citations to 2 (two) senior citizens of Jalukie town was conducted by CDPO Nsang, Peter.
The two awardees are Ipetkule aged 87 and Hulimbo aged 86. Vote of thanks was deliverd by CDPO Athibung Namhuheing. Altogether around 180 older persons from Jalukie town attended the function.

On the occasion DC spoke on theme while MS Mon Dr. Wungyong imparted health care for senior citizens. Sheiching (92 yrs) and Yahon (87 yrs) were felicitated as special guest.
Tseminyu : The international day of older person programme was organised by Gwa Logwa in honour of the Tseminyu elder citizens at Tseminyu village community hall. Executive secretary CRBC Haiwalo Apon was the main speaker.
