DMC: In view of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) on October 1 launched sanitation campaign by putting up posters and banners at various locations in Dimapur. The posters and banners carried messages discouraging the use of polythene bags, urging public to throw wastes into dustbins etc. Speaking at the launching programme, DMC administrator, H. Atokhe Aye reiterated his appeal to the public to throw garbage at designated places within the specified timings. “DMC workers are sincerely engaged in keeping the town clean and we appeal the citizens to cooperate with the authorities towards a clean and green Dimapur,” said Atokhe.
NSS VHHSS: NSS unit of Vision Home Higher Secondary School conducted a mass social under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti on October 3.
DPS DIMAPUR: Delhi Public School (DPS) Dimapur observed a weeklong Swachh Bharat, Swachh Vidyalay Abhiyan from September 26 to October 2 where the students, teachers and other staff members of the school enthusiastically volunteered to clean the campus and the surrounding of the school. The scorching sun could not deter the spirit and determination of the participants. Emphasis was given on removing the non-biodegradable substances like plastic and everyone was made aware of the harmful effects of it. Reflecting the motto “cleanliness is next to godliness”, the students along with their assigned teachers other member of staff cleaned up their allotted areas and the celebration culminated echoing the message of making the earth a better and cleaner place to live in. The students and all the members of staff pledged to work as ambassador of cleanliness in their respective locality and spread the awareness and supervise the cleanliness of their area.
PVHSS DIMAPUR: Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School (PVHSS), Dimapur observed Gandhi Jayanti, 146th Birth Anniversary of M.K. Gandhi in a befitting manner on October 2. During the programme students and teachers dwelt upon the life and activities of Gandhi which was followed up by “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”. The whole school building and a part of West Yard Evening Market were cleaned by the students. The programme was initiated by principal Monoj Bhattacharjee and was led by PVHSS Dimapur headmaster Lakshman Chandra Das.
PEREN: In continuation of the Swachh Bharat Mission -Nation- wide sanitation awareness campaign, Peren division PHED under the aegis of WSSO held a mass social work on October 3, at Peren Town. The social work was organized in collaboration with Peren town youth organization under the supervision of Peisau V/P and in joint effort with the district administration involving school students, youths, traders’ union Peren and all wards of the town. Youth organization gave a facelift to the local ground like whitewashing, leveling the ground and clearing of the debris in and around the ground. Every ward took an active part in the social work where shrubs and bushes were cleared and cleaned up including the clogged drainage. Schools and government offices too cleaned their respective compounds and buildings. The main town area was cleaned and swept by the PHED staffs.
