Peraciezie Youth Organisation (PYO) Kohima and Tikhir Students’ Union Kohima (TSUK) has vehemently condemned the physical assault of a 5-year-old minor girl from Tikhir community by her foster parents, a police personnel and his wife on March 11, at Peraciezie colony Kohima.
PYO: Peraciezie Youth Organisation demanded that the couple be booked under relevant sections of the law for child abuse, attempted murder and crime against humanity and said they should not be released under any circumstances and demanded justice without interference from any angle.
In a condemnation issued by PYO president, Kevisetso Miachieo and secretary, Khriesakeduo Kelio stated that Peraciezie colony was dismayed by the torturous acts committed by a police personnel who is under oath to protect the citizens. “Such person should not be entrusted to enforce the law and the accused should be discharged from his service for the safety of the general public”, it added.
The release said that the couple has been ousted from Peraciezie colony with immediate effect and warned that they will be treated in the same way as they treated the minor child if they are ever seen in the colony again.
The colony regretted that the minor child underwent such treatment in its jurisdiction and prayed for the speedy recovery of the child.
The colony also cautioned house owners to properly verify the credentials of the tenants and be vigilant, failing which the house owners will also be held equally responsible for crimes and anti-social activities perpetrated by tenants.
TSUK: Tikhir Students’ Union Kohima (TSUK) in a condemnation note issued by president TSUK, P Apong and general secretary, T Vichimshi, stated that such inhumane act meted out to a minor girl was totally unacceptable, and that such action does not deserve any place in Naga society and should be condemned by every right-thinking citizen of the Nagas, under one voice.
The union appealed the competent authority to take stringent action as per the rule of law.
