Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) is an agency aimed at bringing new and improved technologies and methods to farmers. In its continual efforts towards this objective, it has been conducting various activities across the state. Following are some reports of their programs.
Chetheba Block: A two-day training and demonstration on agri and allied activities was conducted at Thenyizu village on May 11 and 12 by ATMA Phek, Chetheba Block. A farm school on banana cultivation and a Food Security Group (FSG) were also formed. ATM, Victoria trained the farmers on establishment of citrus nurseries, plantation practices of Banana, calendar of operation for large cardamom, package practices for banana. She also demonstrated king chilli (Capsicum Chinese Jacquin) pickle preparation. ATM Raveyi also gave training on backyard poultry farming, demonstration on deworming for poultry, control of ectoparasites on livestock, use of potash as disinfectants, and use of antibiotic for poultry. The program was chaired by BTM Aviu-u Liezietsu. Altogether, 34 farmers from Thenyizu village attended the program. Some medicine samples related to poultry and livestock were also distributed to the farmers who participated.
Noksen block: ATMA Tuensang, Noksen block organized training, demonstration and inaugurated a Farm School on May 23 and 24 at Litem village and Noksen town with ATM, Selila and ATM, Limasunep as resource persons. A press release from ATMA Tuensang, Noksen block BTM, Suponglemla Chang stated that during the training programme at Litem village on May 23, resource person ATM, Selila trained the farmers on the biological method of soil conservation and Nadep composting method. They were also shown practical demonstrations of these methods.
At Noksen town on May 24, resource person ATM, Limasunep, gave practical demonstrations of site selection, importance of seasons and planting spacing of cardamom, tomato and coffee. Meanwhile, a Cardamom Farm School with N. Michael Chang as farm teacher was inaugurated with 10 members. A new Food Security Group (FSG) under the nomenclature ‘’EDOU FSG’’ was formed with 10 members. Altogether 18 farmers including functionaries attended the programme.
