With the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva campaign and the state government’s decision to conduct a mass cleanliness drive across the state from September 29 to October 2, various organizations, institutes etc. have been conducting cleanliness drives across the state. Following are some more reports of these drives.
Mon: A one day cleanliness drive under Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2018, for Tizit sub division of Mon district was held at the ADC’s Conference Hall, Tizit, with Paiwang Konyak, minister for Transport & Civil Aviation, Railway & Land Resources as the patron.
Addressing the gathering, Paiwang emphasized on inculcating the habit of cleanliness into our lives, instead of making it just a one day affair. “Tizit is the Mirror of Mon district” he asserted and went on to say that because it is at the entrance to Mon district, it reflects an image of the whole district. Paiwang therefore urged the people to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings, so that the first impression may be positive.
He also pointed out that although the Swach Bharat Mission was launched by the NDA government, it had nothing to do with politics. He maintained that the mission was aimed at keeping surroundings clean, for the people’s own well being and healthy life.
The minister also suggested that the administration adopt a resolution to select a dumping site where waste can be dumped.
He also opined that dismantling all the deserted houses by the road side within Tizit town may be a good idea.
After the program, the minister accompanied by DC, Mon, ADC Tizit, deputy commandant 6th NAP and other officers and NGOs visited Tizit Primary Health Center and they cleaned up the premises.
The minister also donated dustbins to be placed at various locations within Tizit.
All governmental departments in Tizit, members of KNSK Tizit unit, KU Unit, Tizit Area Students Union and the general public, took part in the cleanliness drive.
The program was chaired by ADC Tizit; invocation was said by by Lima Pongen, pastor Tizit town Ao Baptist Church, Yingwang Konyak, Head DB gave a welcome address; DC Mon gave an introductory speech and vote of thanks was delivered by EAC Tizit. (Correspondent)
Zunheboto: KT Sukhalu, advisor, School Education, visited the district administration and NDPP party workers during the Swachatta Hi Seva mass social work in Zunheboto town, being conducted from September 29 to October 2.
A press release from NDPP Zunheboto region media cell stated that Sukhalu visited places where the social work drives were being conducted and interacted with public leaders, school staff and students of Government Higher Secondary School Zunheboto. He was accompanied by Shanavas, deputy commissioner, Zunheboto, Vekhoyi Chakesang, ADC, Khehoshe Yeptho, president, NDPP Zunheboto region, and a host of other public leaders.
NZP Rangapahar: Mass social Work was conducted at Nagaland Zoological Park on September 29 and October 1.
A press release from NZP director Obed Bohovi Swu stated that on September 29 work was done inside Nagaland Zoological Park residential colony and on October 1, social work was conducted within the zoo from the parking to the enclosure areas. Members of Forestry Graduates Association of Nagaland (FGAN) and personnel of 1st NAP posted at Nagaland Zoological Park also joined the staff in the social work.
SMHSS Dimapur: St. Mary’s Hr. Sec. School (SMHSS), Dimapur held a special cleanliness drive comprising of a group of 100 students on October 1. A press release from SMHSS Dimapur stated that the team began its cleanliness drive in the early hours around the vicinity of the school from Bata Charali to Holy Cross police point. The principal, Neena Dutta along with Lion’s Club members exhorted the team with appreciation. The whole team was guided by teachers, Johnson, John Toppo, Ajay Paul, Imnatoshi, Ronojit Dutta & school campus Leo.
MARCOFED office and Jt. Registrar (ARDC): Employees of the MARCOFED office and Jt. Registrar (ARDC), Dimapur observed the Swachh Bharat mission together by conducting a cleanliness drive on October 1 around their office premises near Fire Brigade, Burma Camp. A press release from MARCOFED stated that the cleanliness drive was led by Dr. M. Chuba Ao, chairman, MARCOFED Ltd.
PGC: Phek Government College (PGC) in collaboration with Phek Town Council (PTC) and all eleven wards of Phek organized a social work coinciding with the Swachata Hi Seva campaign at the college on October 1.
PTC and all the wards of Phek along with the district administration and SDRF, Phek unit teamed up to help the college prepare for the upcoming UGC NAAC peer team visit.
The social work was flagged off with a short program chaired by ADC, Avelu Ruho.
PGC principal, Dr Vizovol Mekro, in his opening note, thanked the people of Phek while highlighting the many constraints faced by the college in its hectic preparations.
Convenor, PTPWF, Nesucho Keyho also thanked volunteers from the eleven wards for willingly taking part in the social work and generously donating a sum of Rs. 1,10,000 towards the college’s preparations for the visit.
Around 500 people including the students and staff of PGC took part in the social work and the refreshment for the day was provided by the district administration.
