The premier post harvest festival of Lotha Nagas, Tokhü Emong, was celebrated with across Nagaland on Wednesday. Lothas across the state celebrated the festival by organizing programs and feasts. Following are some more reports of the celebrations.
DALPO: Dhansiripar Area Lotha Public Organization (DALPO) observed its first Tokhü Emong program on November 7, at Biblical Leadership Institute, Dhansiripar with RO, Dimapur, Mhalo Kikon as the guest of honour.
A press release by DALPO stated that the guest of honour exhorted the gathering on the relevance of the day. GS of DALPO, S Nchumbemo Yanthan, highlighted the story of Tokhü Emong.
The celebration began with an invocation by pastor in-charge, Razaphebasa Lotha Baptist Fellowship, Nanbemo Ngullie; chairman of DALPO, S Mhonthung Tsopoe also addressed the gathering. An entertainment session was conducted by stand-up comedian, Lawrence Kikon, and the program concluded with a benediction by pastor UBC Dhansiripar, Chenirao Jungi, who also pronounced a prayer of blessings for the DALPO which was recently formed and affiliated to the Lotha Hoho, Dimapur.
Phek: The Lotha community of Phek celebrated its 48th Tokhü Emong on November 7 at the Bungalow of Deputy Commissioner Phek, Orenthung Lotha.
A press release by the organiser, Lotha Hoho Phek, stated that the festival was celebrated with great fanfare with a huge turnout.
In his speech, the DC Phek expressed happiness over the community’s initiatives and their cooperation through 48 years of existence and lauded their spirit of brotherhood.
Orenthung also encouraged the community to strive for more cooperation, coexisting in peace and harmony and make positive contributions to society. Special guests, additional SP Phek, Tokavi Achumi and 2nd in-charge (officiating commandant) 22 Assam Rifles, Phek, R A Gothwal, also extended Tokhü greetings and promised all possible help to the community.
Mon: Mon District Lotha Hoho celebrated Tokhü Emong Lhinsung on November 7 at the residence of Chumlamo Humtsoe, SDO (C) Hq Mon.
According to DIPR, speaking on the occasion, Chumlamo welcomed the guest and extended festival greetings to the members of the community.
Lissumo Ezung, ADEO Mon explained the meaning and significance of Tokhü Emong. Dr. M. Libanthung Ngullie, principal, Wangkhao College Mon, and SP Mon also spoke on the occasion. Commandant of 13th AR, ADC Mon, HoOs and other officers attended the function.
Yibemo Kithan, pastor LBC, Mon invoked God’s blessings. The program was chaired by Yanithung Ngullie, SDO(C) Mon, and a vote of thanks was proposed by T.A Ngullie. The occasion culminated with a sumptuous feast.
