In a distinctive approach to Teachers’ Day celebrations, the students and staff of Government Middle School, Nkialwa under Peren district opted for community service over traditional events embarking on a commendable task of repairing a deteriorating segment of the road that connected Nkialwa to Azailong village along the Peren-Tening route.


With the right tools in hand and teamwork in action, they systematically addressed the road’s rough patches.
Locals watched in admiration as the group worked diligently, transforming a once neglected stretch into a usable path by evening.


School head teacher, Benwangbo, remarked that the day symbolized the power of unity and the potential to drive positive change in society.


GSUK honors teachers on special day: The Gorkha Students’ Union Kohima (GSUK) commemorated “Teachers’ Day” at the GPPK Multi Utility Hall to laud the dedication and influence of Gorkha educators in the region. In his keynote, president of GSUK Meghraj Lama, emphasized on the invaluable contributions of Gorkha teachers not only in Kohima but throughout Nagaland. He expressed gratitude for their pivotal role in nurturing future leaders.


Highlights of the event included speeches by notable figures by lecturer of Model Hr. Sec. School, Anup Sonar and C.K. Lama, a retired government teacher. Cultural presentations by GBPWS and AASTHA unit added to the occasion’s charm. The ceremony, attended by over 50 esteemed Gorkha teachers and community leaders, was chaired by Sharvajani Gurung.
