Meanwhile, MGM College celebrated the 80th Independence Day with a display of patriotism, national pride and youthful enthusiasm under the theme “Yuva Shakti for Viksit Bharat @ 2047.” The highlight of the programme was the screening of a special audio visual presentation, “Glimpses of India before Independence,” which vividly portrayed the hardships faced under colonial rule and traced the nation’s arduous journey towards freedom.
The presentation brought alive the courage, determination and sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters, reminding the younger generation that the freedom enjoyed today was secured through immense sacrifice and perseverance. Delivering the Independence Day message, administrator Fr. Shaiju Philip reflected on the historic significance of independence and emphasised that freedom carries a profound responsibility. He called upon students to recognise themselves not merely as beneficiaries of India’s progress but as active participants and future architects of the nation.
He further stressed that the strength of India lies in its young population and that the aspirations of Viksit Bharat @ 2047 can be realised only through educated, skilled, disciplined, responsible and socially conscious youth. The programme was chaired by IQAC coordinator, Jemsungba Walling, and commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by Fr. Shaiju Philip, followed by the National Anthem.
