The first round of Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) at Mokokchung district was successfully carried out at Mokokchung district on January 18.
A total of 7337 children from 0-5 years received the polio from 210 IPPI booths with the involvement of 840 members of health workers and volunteers. The first polio drops was administered by the Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung Dr. Akaba.
In order to ensure that all children from 0-5 years received the polio drops and to stop reemergence of polio cases in the district, door to door campaign is being conducted on January 19 and 20.
Tseminyu sub-division has also conducted its first round of IPPI at Community Health Centre in the presence of village elders, departmental staff and administration. Altogether 1818 children from the age of 0-5 years were provided 2 drops of polio.
Dr. Tinenlo James, SMO Tseminyu, said that 65 IPPI booth were set up under the division. He also said that as per the directive from Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, IPPI health workers and volunteers would be conducting house to house campaign on January 19 and 20 to all those children who missed the programme.
All the staff under Community Health Centre Doctors, nurses and staff under Tseminyu sub division were present during the IPPI programme.
Meanwhile, a total of 29009 children were immunized in Mon district during the first round of Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization on January 18. A total of 300 regular booths were set up along with 1200 volunteers to administer Polio drops where  youth of Konyak Baptist Church, Mon, were also a part of the team.
Altgether, 60 supervisors were assigned led by Dr Lemnyei, SPO, Mental Health. The first polio drops was administered by Dr. UK Konyak, Chief Medical Officer, Mon.
In Kiphire, the Deputy Commissioner, Chumremo Odyuo, has administered the first dose of Polio vaccine at main traffic point, Kiphire. On the occasion, Odyuo called upon the public to give their full co-operation to ensure the success of first IPPI round. The program was attended by the Deputy CMO, DPO (RCH/UIP), M.Os, NGOs and other vertical program officers. In Phek, the first polio drops was administered by Rev. T Alem at District Hospital, Phek. Chief Medical Officer Dr. K Vikato Kinimi, Deputy CMO Dr. Ritu Thurr, DPO NVBDCP Dr. Neisakho and Dr. Thienuhezo DPO (RCH & UIP) also attended the program.
