DIMAPUR: Teachers’ Day 2026 was commemorated across Nagaland with programmes organised by student bodies, institutions and Assam Rifles, honouring the dedication and invaluable contribution of educators.
Japukong Students’ Conference (JKM): Commemorating Teachers’ Day, Japukong Students’ Conference (JKM) extended greetings and sincere appreciation to all teachers across the Japukong range by awarding “Best Teacher Award” to 20 teachers, in recognition of their sacrifice, dedication, and commitment to the teaching profession.
A press release by JKM informed that it recognized the role of educators extended far beyond classroom.
“Their efforts in nurturing, guiding and encouraging students leave a lasting impact on individuals and society as a whole”, it stated.
Acknowledging their valuable service and contribution to the educational development of the Japukong community, a small gesture of appreciation was presented to all teaching and the non-teaching staff in all schools across the range as well.
JKM informed that one teacher from each school, including both private and government schools within the range, were selected for the award, whereby, a total of 20 awardees were presented with certificates. The awards were presented during the Teachers’ Day celebrations at the respective schools.
Sao Chang College, Tuensang: The college celebrated Teachers’ Day at the Multipurpose Hall under the theme “Honouring the Guides.” Hosted by Sangmailenla N, the programme featured blessings, cultural presentations by hostellers, and acknowledgements by principal Dr. Lanurenla and vice principal Dr. Lal Veda Chandra Kumar, who lauded teachers’ struggles, dedication and tireless efforts.
Assistant professor Akyuba Sangtam delivered the “Voice of Inspiration,” urging students to embrace discipline, sincerity and responsible use of time. The event concluded with a Prayer of Gratitude by Samuel.
PVHSS: Teachers’ Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School auditoriums, where students presented cultural programmes, speeches and songs to express gratitude. Teachers were felicitated as a mark of appreciation for their service.
Assam Rifles, Jalukie (Peren): Assam Rifles Public School (ARPS), Jalukie, celebrated the day with motivational lectures, cultural performances and a felicitation ceremony honouring teachers for their selfless service and academic excellence. The initiative highlighted Assam Rifles’ commitment to quality education and community values.
Assam Rifles in remote districts: Teachers’ Day was also celebrated at GHSS Pungro, GMS and Christian School Anatongre, ARHS Naginimora, and St. Xavier School, Shamator. Programmes included cultural performances, appreciation posters, and distribution of sports items and stationery to encourage holistic student development. At St. Xavier School, Shamator, a sanitation block was inaugurated to promote hygiene among schoolchildren. At GHSS Pungro, 320 students and 28 teachers participated, while 85 students, 19 teachers, Village Council members and parents attended celebrations in Anatongre.
