Holds meeting with local leaders, administrative officials
Union minister of state (MoS) for tribal affairs, Durgadas Uikey, visited the Kiphire aspirational district and held a meeting with various local leaders, administrative officials and other officials in the conference hall of deputy commissioner (DC) Kiphire on January 13, 2025.
According to a DIPR report, the union minister of state interacted with the local leaders, stakeholders, and departmental officials. He also reviewed the progress of key developmental initiatives and projects in the district, which reflect the government’s commitment to address the needs of the communities, besides on-going initiatives and challenges in the development of tribal areas, as well as to explore new avenues for collaboration in the district.
DC Kiphire, Temsuwati Longkumer, requested the MoS to give special consideration to the proposals submitted by Kiphire aspirational district. He pointed out that during the period 2023-2024, and 2024- 2025, no allocation of fund had been extended from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs for Kiphire, despite being an ‘Aspirational District’.
SP Kiphire, Chinese Chakhesang, also appraised for the establishment of a model women police station equipped with modern facilities at Kiphire HQ. On behalf of four tribes residing in Kiphire—Sangtam, Yimkhiung, Tikhir, and Eastern Sumi—the United Sangtam Student’s Conference (USSC) and United Sangtam Student’s Likhum Pumchi (USLP) submitted a memorandum to the Union Minister of State.
ABF NITI Aayog Kiphire, Sukanya, presented some success developmental works undertaken at Kiphire aspirational district. Vote of thanks was proposed by DC Kiphire while EAC Kiphire HQ, Takatemjen Pongen moderated the programme.
MoS visits GHS Yangphi, EMRS: Union minister of state (MoS), Durgadas Uikey, also visited PM SHRI Government High School Yangphi, Kiphire Town on January 14, 2025. The union minister inspected the library project and smart class rooms under NagaED and KeyED.
During a brief interaction with the teachers, the minister queried about the progress collaboration for both boys and girl students. Uikey said that, “A teacher is like a candle which burns itself and gives light to others”. He expressed gratitude to the teachers for their dedication in educating the students. The institution also submitted a proposal for improving the school’s approach road to the union minister.
Uikey also visited Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) in Kiphire and advised the department concerned to set up a construction committee to monitor the construction project for quality works and for completion of works without delay. The minister directed the planning department to give timely update on the progress of the construction works to the district administration.
MoS visits FPU at Amahator: Durgadas Uikey also visited the Food Processing Unit (FPU) at Khingkular Azakeh VLO, Amahator Town, Kiphire on January 14, 2025.
Durgadas thanked the Amahator people for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him and his delegates.
MoS said that the Prime Minister Modi was very concerned for the development of the nation and for sustainable economy.
Durgadas also shared his contact number as well as his PS phone number for better communication and progress of the development activities initiated in the district. MoS urged them to contact him personally whenever they come to Delhi or to contact him directly if there were any grievances. He assured to help the tribal people in general.
After visiting the FPU at Amahator Town, the Union Minister and his entourage travelled back to the District Hospital, Kiphire (DHK) and had interaction with the Doctors and medical staff.
