MoS Gopi reviews CSSs in Niuland dist

Union Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Tourism, Suresh Gopi, who visited Niuland district on April 9, 2025, and discussed with the department officials the implementation of various centrally-sponsored schemes (CCSs) on the ground.


According to a DIPR report, the union minister advised the department officials to speed up the remaining schemes, which were yet to be implemented. The minister also held discussions with various departments and interacted with the leaders of civil societies.


He acknowledged that Nagaland should have been positioned better than what it was today. MoS asserted that Nagaland has huge and wide scope for tourism and its resources. However, he said there were some constitutional and revenue issues that needed to be addressed.

Union minister also called for working together, deliberation and assessing the capacity works that the department and the officials have put forward to have rapid action schemes in the days ahead.


In her welcome address, deputy commissioner (DC) Niuland, Sara S Jamir, said that Niuland being the new and underdeveloped district, the presence of the minister in the district was the manifestation of his true commitment for reaching out to the unreached people and bringing development to the door steps of “Aam Aadmi” at the grassroots level.

PowerPoint on various CSSs was presented by various departments including PHED, DRDA, agriculture, mission vatsalya, industries & commerce and school education. Niuland District GB Association and Niuland Area Citizens Forum presidents also spoke at the program and handed over their respective representations to the minister.


Later, the minister visited government high school Nito at Nikhekhu village and interacted with the school authorities and students. The programme was chaired by ADC Niuland, S Athsangla.
