The eighth edition of Rozgar Mela was held at Assam Rifles Training Centre and School, Shokhuvi on Monday where Union Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs and Education Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh handed out appointment letters to 134 new recruits.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed about 51,000 appointment letters to newly inducted recruits in government departments and organisations, under Rozgar Mela, through video conferencing. The event was organised at 45 locations simultaneously across India. In Nagaland, 134 individuals were selected as part of this initiative this month, of which 84 candidates were selected to join Assam Rifles, 24 to CRPF, 21 to BSF, 5 for SSB and 2 for ITBP.
Speaking on the occasion, Singh expressed his happiness to be part of the programme. He said serving fellow countrymen was a great honour, adding that there was hardly any career more satisfying and fulfilling than public service. He urged those who got their appointment letter to utilise the opportunity to serve the citizens and help take the country to greater heights .
Singh claimed that the Rozgar Mela was a unique concept visualised by Prime Minister, with the aim of institutionalising government’s recruitment processes, with a focus on transparency.
He said the mela was one of the hallmarks of youth-centric administrative and governance re-forms initiated under the guidance of Modi, adding that it stood apart as a major and bold initiative to provide government jobs to youth in a transparent manner.
“In the last nine years under the guidance and vision of the Prime Minister, the government has prioritised government recruitment processes in a transparent and unbiased manner,” he stated.
He claimed that the Central government had brought down the average time taken in the selection process by the Staff Selection Board from roughly 15-18 months to 6-8 months on aver-age.
Dwelling on Mission Karmayogi through Karmayogi Prarambh and i-GOT Karmayogi app, the MoS mentioned that it was visualised and launched by Modi for capacity building among public servants with the aim to provide anywhere and anytime learning. He also claimed that the government today was making all necessary tools and training available to fructify this vision to all public servants.
He concluded his speech by urging the new recruits to give utmost priority to serve fellow citizens, as they began their careers in public service, while also wishing them very productive and satisfying careers ahead.
