MP Lok Sabha, S. Supongmeren Jamir, Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) president Chingwang Konyak and Yimkhiung Union Dimapur (YUD) have expressed grief on the demise of former minister K. Zungkum.
In a condolence note, Supongmeren said late Zungkum dedicated his life to serve the people of Nagaland. From his early days as a teacher and translator to his role in politics and the Naga national movement, he worked tirelessly for the welfare and progress of the state, Supongmeren said.
Describing late Zungkum as a strong advocate for the Yimchunger community and played key roles in various organizations, Supongmeren said his contributions to society will always be remembered and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
NDPP president Chingwang Konyak described late K. Zungkum as a friend and a colleague, and recalled his association with him since 1969 when they both served as Regional Council Members and later as members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from Tuensang, when he was elected in 1972 on the demise of late P. Monukiu Yim.
“My association with him continued till his sad passing and he will be dearly missed”, Chingwang said. He said as a people’s leader, late K. Zungkum contributed in many ways towards the development of Nagaland and its people during the formative years of the State.
Chingwang said late Zungkum has left an indelible print through his contributions towards the people of Tuensang and the Yimkhiung tribe in particular and was instrumental in the formation and establishment of the Yimkhiung Tribal Council.
In his passing, Chingwang said the State has lost a veteran and visionary leader and also a personal friend and colleague. Further, Chingwang along with his wife and NDPP family conveyed condolences to Mrs. Youngtsula and the members of the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in enteral peace.
Yimkhiung Union Dimapur (YUD) described late Zungkum as an unparalleled leader, a treasure trove of the people, prominent member, fatherly figure and pioneer in various fields for Yimkhiungs.
YUD said he had dedicated and contributed his best service for the growth and progress of the people he served and represented.
At the moment of irreparable loss, the YUD extended condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the soul of departed leader rest in eternal peace.
