MP raises Jalukie Vet college issue

DIMAPUR, AUG 4 (NPN): Nagaland’s lone Lok Sabha MP, S Supongmeren Jamir, on Tuesday urged the Centre to strengthen infrastructure and academic facilities at the College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Jalukie, during Zero Hour in Lok Sabha.
Raising the issue before the House, Jamir appealed to the Union Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying to sanction key developmental projects for the constituent college of the Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal.
He sought the construction of a veterinary clinical complex, upgradation of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnostic (VLD) facilities for efficient disease diagnosis, and the introduction of veterinary telemedicine and mobile animal health services to improve outreach and service delivery.
Jamir said the proposed interventions would significantly enhance veterinary education, strengthen animal healthcare services and build capacity in the livestock sector in line with national development goals.
Pointing out that the college attracts students from across the country, the MP said the proposed infrastructure upgrades would improve academic standards and help the institution emerge as one of India’s leading veterinary colleges.
Further, MP urged the Centre to accord priority to the proposals. He said that investment in veterinary education was vital for improving livestock productivity, ensuring food security and generating employment opportunities in the rural economy.
