DIMAPUR, AUG 7 (NPN): Lok Sabha MP S. Supongmeren Jamir has urged Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu to restore Air India Express services connecting Bengaluru-Kolkata-Guwahati-Dimapur-Imphal.
In a letter to the minister, Jamir said service has remained suspended for nearly a year, causing inconvenience to travellers from Assam, Nagaland and Manipur.
He also pointed out that Air India Express had discontinued its Bengaluru-Kolkata-Guwahati-Dimapur service from August 1, 2026, further reducing air connectivity to the North East and placing an additional burden on students, patients, business travellers, government officials and the general public.
Jamir urged the Ministry of Civil Aviation to take immediate steps to restore the suspended Air India Express routes or facilitate operations by another airline on the Bengaluru-Kolkata-Guwahati-Dimapur-Imphal sector.
He said restoration of these services would significantly ease travel for citizens of the three northeastern states and strengthen regional connectivity.
Appealing on humanitarian grounds, the MP requested the minister to accord the matter top priority and ensure the earliest possible restoration of the affected air services in the larger public interest.
