DIMAPUR: Lok Sabha MP, S. Supongmeren Jamir, has urged Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to address the concerns of contractual employees working under Prasar Bharati (Doordarshan) in Nagaland, including demands for job security, better pay and service benefits.
In a letter, Jamir highlighted the issues faced by contractual employees in engineering and programme sections of DD Nagaland.
He said the employees were engaged through public advertisements and interviews and were performing responsibilities similar to those of regular staff.
Despite carrying out these duties, MP said the contractual employees continued to work without adequate job security, a structured pay system or basic service benefits.
He urged the minister to consider the matter on humanitarian grounds and formulate a policy for regularisation or absorption.
He also sought implementation of a proper pay structure based on the principle of equal pay for equal work, job security, and extension of basic service benefits.
MP also appealed for special recruitment in engineering and programme sections.
