Nagaland is set to host the 2nd Mr Northeast Bodybuilding & Physique Championship 2026 at the Capital Cultural Hall, Kohima, with the main competition scheduled for September 12.
The championship is Organised by the Nagaland Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (NBBFA) under the aegis of the Indian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (IBBFF) and Northeast Bodybuilding Federation (NEBBF), the championship will bring together bodybuilders and fitness athletes from across the Northeast.
Registration, weighing and physical verification of participants were conducted at 2K Hotel on Friday, ahead of the main competition.
The championship will feature nine categories across three divisions. Men’s Bodybuilding will have six weight categories up to 55 kg, 60 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 75 kg, and 80 kg and above. Men’s Sports Physique will have two height categories up to 165 cm and above 165 cm while Women’s Model Physique will be an open category.
Around 14 to 16 judges from across the Northeast, including international-level judges, are expected to officiate the competition.
President of the Indian Body Builders Federation (IBBF), Swamy Ramesh Kumar, along with federation colleagues, is expected to address the event. Councillor Ward 19, Kohima, Medoviu Martin Suohu, will attend as the special guest, while IGP (Armed Battalion-NAP), Imnalensa,, will be the guest of honour.
The championship is expected to provide athletes a platform to progress from state-level competitions to national events such as the Federation Cup, Mr India and Senior and Junior Nationals, and eventually international competitions.
The NBBFA has invited the public, particularly young people and fitness enthusiasts, to attend the championship and support athletes from across the Northeast.
The organisers said the championship aims to promote bodybuilding and fitness among young people while showcasing Nagaland’s potential to host regional sporting events.
