A training programme under the banner of Mera Resham Mera Abhiman (MRMA) was held at Vidima village, Chumoukedima, on August 20. The initiative was jointly organised by the CSB–P3 Unit, Narayanpur, Assam, in collaboration with the State Sericulture department, Chumoukedima.
The programme focused on host plant pest and disease management, with particular emphasis on castor—the primary food plant of eri silkworm. Resource persons highlighted the adoption of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) technologies as a sustainable and scientific approach to ensure healthy crop growth and improved productivity.
Local eri farmers participated actively in the training, where they were sensitised on timely identification and control of major insect pests and diseases.
The session also encouraged farmers to adopt appropriate scientific practices for better management of castor cultivation.
The organisers expressed hope that such capacity-building efforts would empower farmers and strengthen the eri silk sector in the region.
