MSME ministry acknowledges Supongmeren’s concerns: NPCC

Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has informed that the committed efforts of Lok Sabha Member of Parliament (MP), S. Supongmeren Jamir, have received a “positive response” from the Union Minister of State for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Shobha Karandlaje.

NPCC through its communications department said Jamir had earlier on February 11, 2025, during Zero Hour discussion in the Lok Sabha, urged the Centre to establish full-fledged office spaces and to depute adequate officers at MSME-Development and Facilitation Offices (DFOs) in the North Eastern Region (NER) including Nagaland.

In response, NPCC said the ministry has acknowledged the concern and assured that 11 deputy directors recently promoted to joint director level would soon be posted. The ministry informed that recruitments for assistant director grade-i and grade-ii were under process through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), with new officers expected to join by June 2025.

According to NPCC, the ministry was further considering strengthening MSME DFOs in the North East by deploying those promoted and newly recruited officers, to enhance the region’s MSME ecosystem.

NPCC has extended gratitude to S Supongmeren Jamir for his consistent interventions in bringing the pressing developmental needs of the North East to the national forum.

The Congress party also acknowledged the prompt intervention extended by the ministry in the matter. It urged the ministry to follow through with the assurance in a time-bound manner so the long-neglected MSME infrastructure in Nagaland and North East could receive the attention and support it truly deserved.
