MTCW, MCK organise annual fresher’s social

Mount Tiyi College Wokha (MTCW) celebrated its 45th fresher’s social on July 26 with advisor IT, Science & Technology, NRE, Mmhonlumo Kikon, as the special guest.

A press release by MTCW stated that the special guest exhorted the students to set goals early in life and work hard to keep up with the changing times. 
Kikon called upon the students to be aware of the current demands in the job market and train oneself to be employable.
He said younger generation was faced with the biggest challenge posed by the artificial intelligence, which is replacing humans in the job market and that the youths need to be creative and trained to stay in the competition for survival. 
The advisor also inaugurated the vocational certificate course in cutting and tailoring which is to be started from this academic session. 
The certificate course is an initiative of the college with the one month salary donation received from minister for Higher & Technical Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along, stated the release.
Emilo Yanthan and Hachithung Kikon of 1st semester class were crowned Miss Fresher and Mr. Fresher respectively. Gift hampers were given to the winners by the special guest.
The programme chaired by assistant professor, Khyopenthung Tsopoe started with an invocation by assistant professor (English) Shancholo Khuvung and welcome address by MTCW principal, Dr. Apeni Lotha. 
Special songs were presented by 3rd semester students and Thechamo of 5th semester. Speeches on behalf of the seniors and freshers were given by Yanpothung of 5th semester and Hachithung of 1st semester respectively. MTCW vice-principal, Amos Ovung, spoke on behalf of the faculty, vote of thanks was delivered by MTCSU general secretary, Erenbeni and closing prayer by associate professor & HoD (Education), Sentimenla Jamir. 
MCK: Modern college Kohima (MCK) organised its 22nd annual fresher’s social on July 25 at the College auditorium under the theme “A step to Forge Eternity”. A press release by MCK stated that the programme was graced by group Commander NCC group Headquarters, Kohima, Brigadier S.S Dhankhar. He  encouraged the students to inculcate the opportunities provided and achieve their aspirations. 
At the programme the invocation was said by EU president, Dokhi Khrasi and the freshers’ were welcomes by general secretary, Vethithuo Chuzho. Takanungba Pongen and Puja Roy were adjudged Mr. & Ms. Fresher’s 2019 respectively.
