MTLT seeks clarification from DoP, UEMBs

Mokokhcung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) has sought clarification from the Power Department and the Urban Electricity Management Boards (UEMB), under Mokokchung town, on the list of bill defaulters published in local dailies on December 1.
In a press release, MTLT president, Imkummeren Jamir and general secretary (grievances cell), Aolong Imchen, has expressed shock that all the colonies under Mokokchung town had been listed as “defaulters”.
While acknowledging the difficulties of the power department and also the shortage of funds from the government, MTLT pointed out that citizens of Mokokchung town have been paying their bills regularly and diligently, and that those who do not clear their electricity bill on time had to add a fine to the amount paid.
MTLT also added that it had been demanding proper power supply in consonance with their payment of bills. “But the publication of all the wards under Mokokchung town is somewhat confusing, if not interesting” the release said.
MTLT has demanded the power department and the concerned UEMB to clarify on the matter.
“The people of Mokokchung town pay their bills regularly and therefore the people have a right to know how, where and when our bills were utilized”, stated the release
