CHÜMOUKEDIMA, AUG 8 (NPN): Medziphema United FC (MUFC) produced a commanding performance to register a 6-2 victory over Sovima Sports Club (SSC) in Match 14 of the 2nd Edition of the CDFA League-cum-Rokonicha Champions Trophy at Chümoukedima Football Stadium on Saturday.
Neisetso Yalie starred for MUFC with a hat-trick, opening the scoring in the seventh minute before adding two more goals in the 33rd and 43rd minutes to put his side firmly in control. Vikholie Chase doubled MUFC’s lead in the 30th minute, while Viselie Vasa made it 5-0 in the 48th minute. Visalie Mezhu completed the scoring for MUFC with a goal in stoppage time (90+2).
Sovima Sports Club mounted a late response through Neikedoto Kiso, who scored in the 81st minute, and Vilashielie Sanchu, who added another in stoppage time (90+4), but the comeback proved insufficient as MUFC cruised to a convincing win.
The match also saw disciplinary action from the referee, with MUFC’s Neisetso Yalie receiving a yellow card in the 39th minute and teammate Diezevito Vasa being cautioned in the 88th minute. Alex Rio of Sovima Sports Club was shown a yellow card in the 12th minute.
For his outstanding hat-trick and influential display, Neisetso Yalie (No. 7) of Medziphema United FC was adjudged the Player of the Match. The tournament will continue with Match 15, in which School of Football will take on Outlaws FC at 3:30 p.m.
